Subject: Report of Water Vapor Transmission Test Law Project Number
50160-0-3481.01.832
Dear Mr. Muench:
Law Engineering and Environmental Service, Inc. (Law) has completed
the water vapor transmission testing of Koester's coating VAP 1-2000.
The purpose of the testing was to measure the water vapor transmission
through the coating using the ASTM E96-95 technique. This report
presents the test procedures and test results.
TEST PROCEDURES
Law performed the testing in accordance with ASTM E96-95, Standard
Test Method for Water Vapor Transmission of Materials. Three test
specimens consisting of cement-mortal" disks measuring 4 inches
in diameter and 0.25 inch in thickness were prepared by Law and
shipped to Koester. Koester applied their coating to one side of
the disks and returned them to Law for testing.
The wet method of ASTM E96-95 was performed. Wax sealant was used
to seal the disks to the test dishes. The samples were sealed to
the test dishes with the coated side of the samples facing away
from the contents of the test dishes. The samples were kept and
monitored in the laboratory conditions of 74 +- 2 °F and 55
+- 2 % relative humidity. The exposure was conducted for 3 weeks
after which time it was discontinued per Mr. Muench's request.
TEST RESULTS
Test results are presented in the attached table.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with you on this project.
Should any question arise concerning this test report, please call
